Effect: The snail bit shares some similarities with the Pelham, but the horse feels no pressure on the neck as there is no action on the cheekpieces. It is the only leverage bit that exerts no pressure on the neck. It is used in direct action with the curb chain and provides less constriction than with the Pelham as it does not affect the head-neck angle.
