Effect: The needle bit has a direct action on the horse's mouth without any lever action. This is the bit that will offer the best possible guidance, which is why it is favoured for young horses. The double-jointed design makes this mouthpiece more comfortable by freeing the uncomfortable area at the palate. Blue Steel bits oxidise when exposed to air and moisture. A fine layer of rust with a sweet taste then appears, which naturally stimulates saliva production. By salivating more, the horse engages more with its bit. In this oxidation process, the colour will change to grey/brown.
