It may look normal from the outside, but the engineering inside this incredible new chain design makes possible a range of speeds previously found only in two-chain transmissions. It's also the main factor that contributes to the ultra-smooth, precise, durable and quiet performance of Eagle transmissions. Eagle chain links have a smooth radius with no sharp edges or chamfers, which greatly reduces noise, friction and wear on chainrings and cassette sprockets.

This design also results in a flatter plate, which means smoother chain riveting and greater overall strength. HARD CHROME technology extends optimal chain life, and a titanium nitride coating on Gold and Black models reduces corrosion and friction.

Technology:

• Flow Link: Ultra-smooth inner chain plates are completely free of square edges, allowing the chain to engage the cassette and chainring with much less friction for quieter performance and longer life. The design allows for a narrower overall profile that can handle larger angles, and also allows for a flatter outer plate, which means more consistent chain riveting and better overall strength.
• HARD CHROME: SRAM HARD CHROME chain is four times more resistant to elongation (wear) than our other chains. This is due to the new finishing process of the inner links and rollers. Thrust pin strength and ultimate strength are equivalent to our current chains. HARD CHROME chain lasts longer and is just as strong. PowerLock®: - The chain engineers at SRAM developed PowerLock® as a tool-free, safe and consistent way to connect our chains. While PowerLock® does not require special tools for installation, the particularly tight tolerances of 10, 11 and 12 speed transmissions require that each PowerLock® be used only once.
• X-SYNC: SRAM X-SYNC 1x chain rings offer the highest level of performance and durability. The high square teeth of SRAM X-SYNC engage the chain earlier than traditional triangle shaped teeth. The sharp, narrow tooth profile and rounded chamfer edges help manage a deflected chain. To provide the best possible performance in muddy conditions, X-SYNC chain rings have been designed with mud clearing recesses for the inner chain links and rollers. Designed in Germany, the X-SYNC rings are an integral part of the SRAM 1x transmission.
