Our Rad Rufus with a high waist and regular fit is made from our all-time favourite black Japanese selvage denim. This 14.5 oz organic selvage denim features a tight weave and generous starch application, ensuring remarkable rigidity. But what really sets it apart is its exceptional aging property, a testament to Kurabo Mills' blend of heritage and innovative craftsmanship. This denim stands out due to its unique construction: the warp thread, mainly visible on the face of the fabric, is dyed black, allowing it to fade gradually with wear and washes. In contrast, the weft thread, mainly visible on the back of the fabric, is dyed with a "stay black" dye, retaining its deep black hue without fading. While this may seem unusual for fading denim, it creates fascinating contrasts, highlighting the intersections of warp and weft. This clever construction promises more pronounced contrasting fades compared to ordinary dry black denim. Beyond its unique thread combination, the tight weave of the denim, its rigid texture, pronounced twill lines, and slightly rough threads create an exquisite surface structure and marbling effects with wear and washes. For best results, we recommend wearing our dry denim regularly for at least six months before the first wash. While this is entirely optional, this period encourages striking fades.
