The Manitou Mara Pro Piggyback shock has two distinct damping circuits, which can be activated or bypassed using the 2-position Work/Party lever. The Work mode is an independent, preset circuit for climbing, and the Party mode is a compression circuit with both high and low-speed settings, externally adjustable, offering a wide range of settings suitable for various terrains and riding styles. The new piston and shim stack assembly is designed considering the Generation 2 Balance Groove air canister. Together, they provide excellent sensitivity to small bumps while offering adjustable support with external compression settings and internal air volume adjustment. The shorter Piggyback reservoir allows for a better fit to the frame, providing more flexibility in mounting.

The rebound management of the Mara Pro Piggyback shock

The rebound on the shock Manitou Mara Pro, adjustable across 12 positions, is also controlled by two distinct circuits.

The first is regulated by a needle valve that allows adjustment of the rebound damping based on the rider's weight, suspension ratio, and air chamber pressure. Adjusting this needle via the knob affects the entire damping range, but mainly controls low-speed rebound.

The second circuit features optimally designed valves to maintain adequate high-speed rebound, regardless of the low-speed rebound setting.

Thus, the shock Manitou Mara Pro offers the rider better control, increased traction, and greater precision in handling, while minimizing the need to adjust settings based on trail conditions.

The air canister of the Manitou Mara Pro Piggyback shock

To allow for precise adjustment of the compression curve, the positive and negative air volumes can be easily adjusted by adding or removing the included volume spacers, without any specific tools needed. This follows the same principle as the IVA (Incremental Volume Adjust) system on Manitou forks, providing a high degree of versatility and autonomy in settings. The air canister of the Manitou Mara Pro Piggyback shock features an optimized air volume known as the Balance Groove King Can.
