BENEFITS OF COLD

The combination of ice and controlled pressure is very effective in strengthening the horse's tendons. It improves circulation and alleviates inflammation.

BENEFITS OF COMPRESSION

When cold and compression are combined, inflammation is reduced and the horse's trauma and injuries improve.

BENEFITS OF HEAT

Heat is very beneficial in combating stiff and painful ligaments, especially in older horses, those with arthritis or muscle pain.

COLD THERAPY INSTRUCTIONS

1.- Place the gel pack in the freezer overnight or for at least 3 hours. The gel will remain flexible.
2.- Place the cold gel pack into the pockets of the protector and close with the velcro. The tab of the gel pack should be facing down.
3.- Put the protector around the horse's legs and secure with the velcros, making sure they are snug.
4.- Optional pressure is created with the hand pump. Introducing pressure gradually, about 20 times, is sufficient.
5.- We can increase or decrease the pressure at intervals as we see fit, creating intermittent compression.
6.- Leave the protectors in place for a period of 20 to 35 minutes for best results.
7.- Before removing the protectors, open the pump to let air escape.
8.- Undo the velcros to remove the protector.

HEAT THERAPY INSTRUCTIONS

1.- Place the gel pack in the microwave one at a time. Care should be taken, as microwave power varies from one appliance to another. About 45 seconds at maximum power is usually sufficient.
2.- Place the gel pack in the pocket and close the velcros. The tab of the gel pack should face down. Then continue from step 3 of the cold therapy.

PROTECTOR MAINTENANCE

1. Occasionally clean the gel packs with a damp cloth. Do not use sharp or rough instruments.
2. Clean the protector with soap and water. Rinse. Hang to dry, do not use a hair dryer.
