An excellent example of Arai's vision for protection and safety is the development of the PSS, the Pro Shade System. A clever drop-down sun visor combined with the renowned Max Vision wide visor with optional Pinlock lens.

It is the solution suitable for all weather conditions against sun glare, mist, and fog. The sun visor opens and closes with just a turn of the hand, and its position is fixed.

A frequently asked question, however, is why Arai did not use an integrated sun visor. There are three good reasons for this:

• No reduction in the thickness of the EPS inner shell is needed. When the visor is integrated, the necessary space is created by using a thinner EPS shell.
• No influence on the integrity of the outer shell caused by the air space needed for an integrated visor and the lack of junction between the outer shell and the inner EPS shell.
• No control mechanism is necessary. The operating system would also need space, further reducing the EPS shell. Moreover, it often contains metal parts within the EPS shell, which could be dangerous in case of impacts.
