Gerry Lopez, one of the most respected surfers of all time, presents a collection of stories about massive waves, epic tubes, and heroes met throughout a life spent on the water. From his childhood in Hawaii, with his first tube at Pipeline, to exploring legendary spots like Uluwatu and G-Land, Surf Is Where You Find It recalls memories from past eras of surfing and pays tribute to those who have shaped this discipline as we know it today.

First published in 2008, after selling more than 50,000 copies, it makes a return with a new layout and new photos. Accompanying the release of the new documentary The Yin & Yang of Gerry Lopez, produced by the equally legendary surfer and skateboarder Stacy Peralta, these 38 stories and hundreds of photos show Gerry in a new light.

• About the author

  There are few icons as remarkable as Gerry in the surfing world, able to calmly embrace the hollow of two-metre waves at Pipeline. After reinventing the art of riding in the tubes of the North Shore of O'ahu, he became interested in Indonesia where he discovered the legendary spots of Uluwatu and G-Land. He now lives in Oregon where he surfs, writes, shapes, and enjoys the powder near his home in Bend.
