New range of MTB chainrings with a 10% ovalization to optimize pedaling! A precise aluminium machining which brings an exceptional performance throughout the pedaling. The are intended for riders with a predominantly fast muscle contraction (fast fibers). These are generally the so-called "Powerful" runners, with a muscle mass and a peak of power higher than the average (Sprinters for example). For these athletes, a higher ovality allows them to reduce negative work compared to our standard ovality. The internal QX2 is most effective for dancer efforts (sprinting or climbing), as it allows for optimization of peak power as dead spots become more critical.

Details:

• One of the conventional wisdom is that increased ovality necessarily offers more benefit. However, our scientific studies show us that the optimal shape of the oval plate varies according to the cyclist, the type of dominant muscle fibres (slow or fast). We have tested our standard Q-Rings in different conditions (different speed variation, different activation/deactivation value...) and we have shown that the optimal ovalization depends on the type of muscle and activation/deactivation.
• With the use of oval plates, the speed slows down when the crank goes down, in order to maximize the time spent in the phase of maximum efficiency (power peak). Increased ovalization allows for greater muscle activation and therefore more positive work, i.e. an increase in the power produced. Also, during the dead points, the crank returns faster, which allows the muscles solicited in these areas to relax more quickly and therefore produce less negative work.
• Thus, a balance must be found between maximizing the time spent in the push (downhill) phase and minimizing the negative work that results when the muscles are relaxed. This explains why many riders may prefer a different ovalization and feel more comfortable with one or the other (Q or QXL).
