Cooler Feet

Our Extra Protection Hyper Thin® socks combine Drymax moisture-resistant fibres with PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) fibres to reduce friction. The result is advanced protection against blisters in the lightest possible sock.

PTFE has the lowest friction coefficient of all fibres, making it the best for reducing friction between the skin and the sock. Low friction allows Extra Protection socks to stay cooler and drier, reducing the risk of hot spots and blisters.

This system includes PTFE fibres in the heel, forefoot, and toe areas of the socks. These socks are designed to be the lightest and thinnest, with the best PTFE fibres on the market.

USAGE INSTRUCTIONS:

Machine wash on a gentle cycle with similar colours. To whiten the socks, use alternatives to bleach. Tumble dry on low heat. Do not iron.

Do not use fabric softeners; they leave a residue on the fibres and fabrics, preventing them from performing as intended. To remove fabric softeners, simply wash with detergent and rinse.

Do not use chlorine bleach.

Do not use skin lubricants.

SPECIAL NOTICE: These socks are designed for extreme and prolonged outdoor use by professional climbers, ultramarathoners, and experts to protect the health and safety of wearers in very wet and extreme conditions over long distances. They are not designed for general consumer use.

Why our ePTFE is safe:

Inertia and size: PTFE is a solid polymer, high molecular weight and chemically inert. It does not break down into smaller, more mobile PFAS under normal conditions and is not soluble in water.

Non-bioavailability: Due to its size and inertia, PTFE is not bioavailable. It does not accumulate in the body, does not interact with cells, and is not easily absorbed. This sets it apart from smaller, more mobile PFAS that raise greater concerns for health and the environment.

Low concern for toxicity: Scientific and regulatory bodies, including the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), have classified fluoropolymers such as PTFE as "polymers of low concern" because their properties make them low risk for human health and the environment.
