Silicates (silicic acid) are responsible fororigine unsightly diatom algae. This test can be used to determine the silicate content of freshwater or seawater s for diatom control. Laboratory comparison system to compensate for the water's own coloring: fill test tubes with water to be tested, add reagents to a test tube, place test tubes in the test block, record values on the color chart.
