To keep it simple: Thick, dense thermal insulation on the back of the hand and thinner insulation in the palm that extends to the gaps between the fingers. This is the weak point of traditional construction, as the cold eventually seeps through the gaps (that's the term for the area between the fingers). FIVE has rethought the fundamentals of thermal insulation with a new construction called THERMO+™, providing up to 20% extra thermal gain. The concept is quite straightforward: the thick insulation on top extends down to the gaps between the fingers, while thinner insulation is at the base (flat) of the palm and fingers. This requires rethinking all the other elements of the glove to maintain perfect flexibility and good grip on the handlebars.

Riding in the cold is when you truly see the benefits of the THERMO+™ construction. The thicker and denser insulation in the gaps serves as a much more effective thermal barrier, helping to keep the natural heat of the hand in the glove for longer.

The use of cutting-edge materials, like Soft Shell fabric, the GORE-TEX® Grip™ membrane bonded to the palm, and ultra-efficient hydrophobic thermal insulation from Primaloft® Gold, has led to a glove that is both waterproof and warm without being bulky. However, just like in winter, the risks of falling are as present as the drops in temperature, the WFX Prime Evo GTX comes with premium protection elements: a monobloc FIVE ERGO PROTECH® shell and a large panel made from SuperFabric®, an ultra-resistant fabric that incorporates microbeads of epoxy resin; visible at the thenar eminence and concealed under leather at the hypothenar area. Not to forget, and this is new on this EVO version, a protective palm shell ERGO PROTECH made from soft TPR.
