Effect: The snail bit has some similarities with the Pelham but does not apply pressure on the nape as there is no action on the cheekpieces. It is the only lever bit with no pressure on the nape. Its action is directly applied to the chin strap, thus on the jaws and not on the angle of the head-neck, which reduces the possibility of confinement.
