- Anatomically designed and specifically shaped for young riders, the all-new SM3 Youth helmet is optimized for use in MX, Enduro, and off-road.
- This lightweight helmet features a thermomoulded shell made from a special polymer blend reinforced with varying thicknesses, designed to offer the optimal combination of impact protection and lightness.
- The lightweight outer shell is built from impact-resistant and technologically advanced thermoplastic, available in three sizes (Youth Small, Youth Medium, and Youth Large). The SM3 Youth weighs 1060g.
- The fit can be adjusted to the rider's head thanks to the crown and cheek pads, which are available as original spare parts in different thicknesses.
- The Youth Medium and Youth Large sizes share the same EPS size, allowing riders with a YM size initially to buy a YM helmet and configure it later to Youth Large size depending on their growth using spare crown and cheek pads.
- The Youth Small size has a smaller EPS size and can only be customised through the cheek pads. Extensive research from Alpinestars has shown that children wearing a YS size are very small, typically aged 3 to 4 years, and therefore require a dedicated helmet fit.
- The multiple-density inner lining ensures the helmet is equipped with the right density in the right areas for improved impact absorption, while also helping to reduce overall weight.
- The inner and outer surfaces are designed to minimise the effects of oblique impacts.
- The patented low-friction coating from Alpinestars is applied to the inside of the main EPS lining to reduce rotational acceleration forces that can result from certain oblique impacts. This layer essentially acts as a sliding plane to mimic the brain's low-friction cerebrospinal fluid, which is the body's natural defense against oblique impacts.
- The patented visor release system ensures that the visor is released with the right amount of predetermined force, effectively reducing forces on the rider's neck during an impact.
- The comfort lining is made from recycled materials for a reduced carbon footprint.
- Hydration tube channels are integrated into the cheek pads for added convenience and performance.
- Safety
- Alpinestars has introduced a new internal standard for the SM3 Youth to test the chin of the helmet under heavier conditions than the approval standard, and to meet the new standards from Alpinestars, the thickness of the shell and the actual structure of the helmet design have been optimised in the chin area for superior impact performance.
- Equipped with an emergency release system and removable cheek pads to allow for safe and easy removal of the cheek pads while keeping the helmet in place, while the 3D contoured foam ensures rider comfort.
- The soft textile chin strap is 25mm for optimal rider safety and comfort.
- The stainless steel D-rings ensure a snug and secure fit.
- Ventilation
- Maximized ventilation and high levels of heat exchange thanks to 10 intake vents and seven exhaust ports.
- The visor has been designed to direct air towards the ports for improved airflow.
